The writer must believe that what he is doing is the most important thing in the world. And he must hold to this illusion even when he knows it is not true. -John Steinbeck

Hello Writers!
I'm so proud of all of you for the work you have done over the past week! Thank you!

This quote by John Steinbeck made me think about you and the work you are doing. Your work is important. Your growth as writers, readers, and thinkers is important. I want to start out our blog by celebrating you. What do you feel has been your greatest success as a writer, reader, or thinker the few weeks? Why have you been so successful?

I cannot wait to read your thoughts and reflections.

Cheers, Ms. Pfautz

My greatest sucess so far in my short story is my description of Gregory Bruceton, the museum guard. I tried to make him seem very menacing and scary (with a stun gun, too).

I've improved at description. I realized writing isn't responding to a prompt and restating the question. It's emotion expressed in little symbols called letters.

I am pround of the descriptions I have made in my story because they have helped me become a better writer and expand my story past where I planned it to end.

My greatest success as a writer so far has definetly been going through and reading authors stories, disecting the settings and character discriptions. This has helped me because, I can use this to my benifet. By having examples RIGHT there with me is a huge help when you get stuck. It helped me realize that I can make my writings more powerful and descriptive than I thought.

I have been more successful as a writer because reading the stories ms.Phautz have been showing us because they have helped me make my writeing more visual. And also have helped me become more successful as a reader too.

My greatest success i think was my description of the mousy man who had ketchup all over his meal in the restaurant. I already wrote a setting description but im going to use the man for my short story instead. i had no idea where to go with the setting id made! :P :)

My greatest success.... Well... I don't really even know. I guess I've improved a lot at writing and stuff, like descriptions and scenery. When I go back and read things I've written over the years, I just stop and think to myself, "Wow. I really sucked." :U
Oh, and I've been successful because my imagination's gotten... Well, crazier. And because of school.
Nothing helps you more than writing crap that you really don't want to. :D

i just realized how much the music you listen to can effect the mood that you write with, like i was just listening to kid cudi and i was trying to write about my bright little happy characters and its like impossible so i put on the beatles and it realy helped oddly enough:)

One thing that I accomplished in the past week was tying together two stories that were inside my short story. I like having mysteries in my story too, like Ernest Hemmingway in "Hills like white Elephants" Its fun to make it hard for the reader to figure out something, they have to infer.
